In an effort to support art education, ADAS established an outreach program in 1992 to provide a one-time art scholarship to schools in the San Ramon Unified School District. By 1995, this effort expanded into the Community Arts Education Program (CAEP), which funds art grants on an annual basis.
All schools in the SRUSD are invited to apply each year for a CAEP grant that can be used toward art education and supplies. ADAS awards funds to established programs, as well as new ideas and projects.
Historically, the CAEP has been funded by ADAS members who generously donate 10% of their sales earned from our annual events. By 2007, ADAS awarded more that $75,000 to art education in our public schools. But the increased demand of our district's 33 schools (up from 24 in 1992), and the decreases in government funding for arts, makes it impossible for artists to build the CAEP alone.
