About the Artist, Flora Baumann

I am a native of Illinois. After graduating from the University ofIllinois in mathematics, I moved to the Bay Area to work at Chevron in computer programming. I studied geology for several years at Cal State University, Hayward before moving to Melbourne, Australia, with my husband and family.

Upon returning to California I began studying watercolor with Marianne Brown. I have taken workshops from many well-known watercolor artists. In 1989 I joined East Bay Watercolor Society (now California Watercolor Association) where I have enjoyed entering competitions and improving my skills. In 1996 I attained signature membership status in CWA. I am also a member of Alamo-Danville Artists Society, Lamorinda Artists Alliance, and the Pleasanton Art League.

For several years I painted in acrylics in more impressionistic and abstract styles. In 2002 I became a student of Pam Glover. More recently I have studied painting with Robert Chapla.

I really enjoy plein-air painting and the freshness of the results. I enjoy the wealth of art available in the Bay Area and the freedom to express myself in a variety of mediums.
