Ginger Miller

Award-winning artist, Ginger Miller, was born in Monterey, California. She has lived in Danville, California since 1978. In recent years, most of her time is involved with her painting and art-related duties.

Art is Ginger's passion. It is food for her soul! It takes form in the avenues of painting, floral design, and singing and entertaining. These very often are incorporated into her paintings. Beautiful music sets her mood. Flowers left over from wedding and party arrangements have led to many of her painting ideas.

Growing up very near the Monterey Bay, Ginger developed a fascination for the sea and her early paintings were primarily seascapes. Her fondness of the California landscape and her deep love of flowers caused her to introduce these subjects into her paintings. She believes the most important element of a painting is the contrast of values, and specifcally the lights in a painting. Ginger hopes to invite the viewer of her paintings to see the emotions and moods that she has tried to convey. She wants her paintings to bring pleasure to the viewers, or to remind them of their own personal experiences and feelings. Capturing the light, shadow and beauty of her subject matter in a photo-realistic style is a never-ending, time-consuming challenge which she fervently pursues. She has enjoyed painting with oils, acrylics and watercolor for more than 30 years. More than 300 of Ginger's paintings are in private collections throughout the United States and abroad.

Ginger is a member of the Alamo Danville Artists' Society and is an ex-tremely active member of the board, serving in several capacities . She also is a member of the California Watercolor Association. She has studied privately with Southern California artist Linda Lee, and taken workshops with nationally-known artists Jan Kunz, Arleta Pech, Marilyn Simandle, E. John Robinson, and Joyce Pike.

Ginger's paintings have been accepted into numerous juried competitions, winning awards which have included "Best of Show". She has participated in several group and solo exhibitions. When Ginger is not working on Art Society duties, or singing and entertaining, she can usually be found happily spending her creative time painting.
