About the Artist, Norma Webb

An oil painter of romantically realistic landscapes, Norma finds it exciting to be able to communicate her appreciation of nature to the viewer.

Favorite subjects are vineyards, the golden hills, oak trees and vanishing barns and ranches. She particularly enjoys painting the lush golden foothills, conveying the feeling of a fresh breeze softly moving the grass. Although urban houses and garden scenes also find their way to canvas, she keeps returning to rural settings; this surely comes naturally, since she is a farmer's daughter and a native Californian.

Artist's Comment: "Recently I have been painting landscapes from faded photographs which I've taken over the past 30 years; many of these scenes have since fallen to 'progress.' I now find myself painting as fast as I can to record our beautiful vistas before they are permanently altered and nothing is left for inspiration except photos."

Norma’s latest painting trip was to Italy in 2003 where she painted in Venice Tuscany and Cinque Terre. “Traveling with oil paints is a challenge of its own, but it is extremely inspiring to paint on location in these historic and beautiful places.” France, Spain and Portugal have been painting destinations as well, but of course she is always glad to return home to scenic Northern California which is never lacking of subject matter.

A signature member of the Society of Western Artists, Norma is active in the Pleasanton Art League and the Livermore Art Association. She takes part in Bay Area art festivals each year including Scene on the Strait in Martinez, Art in the Vineyard at Wente Winery and Art Under the Oaks at Livermore’s Alden Lane Nursery. She has been in national shows, received many awards in major juried exhibitions and has had several solo and group shows. Her paintings are in private and corporate collections throughout the United States and abroad.
